LANGUAGE CHALLENGE EXAM

Are You Fluent in Another Language? You May Be Able to Challenge It for Credit

If you would like to complete a Language Challenge Exam, you MUST complete the following:

1. Download and complete the Language Challenge Exam Application Package
   • Go to the Delta School District Language Challenge webpage:
     https://www.deltasd.bc.ca/schools/secondary/challenge-exams/
   • Download the current Student Application Package.
   • Complete pages 7–10.
   • Write your full name at the top of page 7.
   • Page 9 must be typed/completed online BEFORE you print the application.
2. Attach your payment
   • Your application must include either:
     • a $50 cheque, or
     • a printed credit card payment receipt.
   • Important: Completing the credit card payment does not mean you are registered for the exam.
3. Come to the Counselling Office and book a 5-minute appointment with Mr. Kemp
   • You must have your completed application with you when you book your appointment.
   • Your application will be reviewed and submitted during your appointment with Mr. Kemp.
   • You may not simply drop off your application.
4. All completed Challenge Applications are due to Mr. Kemp by Friday, October 23, 2026
   • This is approximately one month after the Language Challenge workshop.
   • Applications must be fully completed before your appointment.
   • Applications can only be submitted through the school.
5. Exam dates are January 30 or January 31, 2027
   • Exams will take place in the Delta School District.
   • Your exam will take approximately 3 hours.
   • You will be notified whether your exam is scheduled for the morning or afternoon.

• Farsi 11 & 12
• French 11 & 12
• Japanese 11 & 12
• Korean 11 & 12
• Mandarin 11 & 12
  • Simplified Characters
  • Traditional Characters
• Punjabi 11 & 12
• Spanish 11 & 12

ASL 11 – American Sign Language

Students wishing to challenge ASL 11 must complete the Student Application Package and submit it through the school. The exam date will be arranged individually with each student.

6. Watch for your confirmation email
   • Confirmation emails will be sent by December 15, 2026.

University Information

♦ NOTE: All universities in Canada accept Language Challenge exam marks. UBC accepts Challenge credits for prerequisite requirements, course requirements, and second-language requirements, but does not include Challenge marks in the GPA calculation for admission.

Students are strongly encouraged to check with their intended university regarding specific admission requirements.
