HONOURING TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION
Metis Nation BC Survey | Survey
Métis Nation BC is looking for the help of educators to provide feedback for the development of a Métis Food toolkit that will highlight land-based skills, traditional knowledge, and Métis recipes, while supporting schools in fostering community pride, cultural visibility, and belonging for Métis students and families. This survey is open to all educators — Métis, First Nations, and non-Indigenous. Feedback gathered will directly inform the ongoing development, design, and implementation of the toolkit to ensure it reflects the strengths, needs, and priorities of Métis learners and communities.
The work of Truth and Reconciliation, and embedding Indigenous Education into our schools and classrooms has been ongoing for over a decade now. While this work has been both powerful and transformational, what is not yet clear is how to assess whether these programs, initiatives and commitments are having the impact that was intended through the recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. In his powerful keynote address at Odyssey 2026, Dr. Niigaan Sinclair, one of Canada's pre-eminent and leading Indigenous educators, provides an approach on how school districts can asses where they currently stand in this work. He outlines a process on how the real work for educators still lies ahead in moving this work along the continuum of presence, to practice, to pedagogy and eventually need to land in permanence.
Niigaan Sinclair, our Keynote Speaker at Odyssey, has shared this incredible resource, the Climbing the Mountain Educator Guidebook. The Guidebook contains activities and educational materials that embody the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and is an exceptional way to train and retain employees and produce healthy relationships with Indigenous communities, breaking new and important ground, while reminding us that change comes from courage, strength and innovation in this work. The guidebook is a useful tool for all educators. You can access the guidebook at the link above.

UDL Conference: International Live Online | July 21 & 22, 2026 | Register
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) has reshaped how learning is designed by treating learner variability as an asset, not a problem to fix. Around the world, administrators, educators, leaders, designers, and researchers are implementing UDL to dismantle barriers, expand access, and improve learning outcomes. This work is no longer theoretical. It is active, evolving, and increasingly global.
UDL-Con: International Live Online will convene a worldwide community of leaders in education to examine what UDL looks like in practice and what it must become next. Participants will dig into emerging research, real world implementation, and the implications of the Guidelines, while challenging long standing assumptions about teaching, learning, and ability. Register for July 21 & 22 for UDL-Con: Live Online to access two days of interactive strategies and field-informed perspectives at the best discounted rate.
