A program that provides graduation credits to paid apprentices for completing work-based training hours.

Employer Benefits

  • Earn tax credits of up to 20% of the apprentice's annual salary
  • Train workers from the start their careers
  • Give back to and invest in the local community
  • Helping students learn a trade while earning credits towards high school graduation

Employer Responsibilities

  • Have an experienced supervising tradesperson oversee the apprentice
  • Maintain active WorkSafe BC coverage for employees
  • Understand the apprenticeship process
  • Complete required documents
  • Providing meaningful paid work experience
  • Submit work-based training Hours Reports to SkilledTradesBC

Student Benefits

  • Get a head start on their career while attending secondary school
  • Potential to work full time for a semester

  • A Work Site Analysis is completed by Langley School District staff when visiting a new employer to assess workplace safety.
  • SkilledTradesBC – Registration – Youth Work in Trades (Youth Apprentice) – SAMPLE
  • SkilledTradesBC – Program Profile and Program Outline – Select the appropriate trade to find these documents. Describes the apprenticeship process for each trade
