Work And Volunteer Experience (WAVE)
What is WAVE?
Work And Volunteer Experience (WAVE) allows grade 10-12 students in the Langley School District to earn graduation credits for paid and unpaid work with a local employer. Students will have an 80 to 170-hour placement with employers as entry-level employees and/or job shadows.

Employer Responsibilities
- Having active WorkSafe BC coverage for employees
- Interview students
- Sign Documents
- Mentor students
- Provide meaningful work
- Supervise students
- Understanding the WAVE course and process

Example Documents
WAVE Agreement formalize the agreement for a student to attend a workplace. Unpaid agreements allow students coverage of WorkSafe BC coverage as an employee of the Province of BC. Paid agreements state that WorkSafe BC coverage will be provided by the Employer
A Work Site Analysis is completed by Langley School District staff when visiting a new employer to assess workplace safety.
