Coaches and Regular Volunteers:
The below information is directly from the school district here: Volunteers
1. Watch the training video here
2. All volunteers involved in coaching students in athletics must complete the Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) from BCSS. If this applies to your role, use the following link to complete the training.
https://cattonline.com/course/concussion-awareness-training-tool-for-coaches
3. Complete this online Volunteer Safety Check Application Form HERE.
4. For the convenience of volunteers and to meet the timely needs of the school, the District is offering TWO options to get your Police Information Check (PIC, formerly called a Criminal Record Check/CRC).
- For volunteers who want a more timely response with a “volunteer letter” from the school, please go to the nearest RCMP Detachment. This can include RCMP Community Policing Offices. If you live in Langley, these checks can often be done on the same day, and sometimes even within 10-15 minutes.
- For volunteers who have more time and prefer to apply online, we have a link below you can use. Please be sure to show two pieces of government-issued ID to the school Administrator, and please understand that this could take 3-4 weeks before we get back a response.
- Apply Online: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/eCRC/
- Access Code: 43TC8K8JGK
Please ensure that the results are brought/sent to the school where you will be volunteering. A PIC/CRC “clearance” must be given to the District BEFORE you can begin to volunteer in the Langley School District.
For more information on the District’s volunteer process, requirements and expectations to help you in your role, we encourage you to read Administrative Procedure 490 as well as a Community Volunteer Letter of Understanding.
