Dear StrongStart families,  

In follow-up to previous communication regarding temporary changes to Simonds StrongStart programming, we are sharing an important update. As part of the ongoing construction work to replace an aging sewer line at the school, District staff have discovered the need to access and repair a larger part of the system. This means that additional spaces and restrooms at the school will be impacted during this project. 

As you may be aware, one classroom in the Simonds primary wing will not be available for use and now additional restrooms will not be available for use. As a result, Simonds StrongStart programming will be relocated every day until the project is completed.

Please take note of the new schedule beginning on Tuesday, February 10:

On Mondays and Tuesdays, StrongStart will join the StrongStart program at Langley Meadows Community School. (Address: 2244 Willoughby Way). Strong Start Facilitator Trish Brown will be supporting our early learners and caregivers on site at Langley Meadows together with Abha Bhatia, the Langley Meadows StrongStart Facilitator.

On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, StrongStart will be moved to James Hill Elementary. (Address: 22144 Old Yale Road). StrongStart Facilitator Trish Brown will be supporting our early learners and caregivers on site at James Hill.

The project timeline is expected to be completed in four weeks minimum. We will continue to update families as soon as information is made available. We recognize that this disruption impacts families. District staff are continuing to work quickly to repair the sewer system to ensure its safe and operational in order for programming to continue in its regular space.
