Students attending EDSS will have a unique opportunity to help shape the school from its very beginning and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
How many students is EDSS being built for?

We encourage students to bring forward their ideas and help establish the activities and traditions they would like to see at EDSS. Specific team and club offerings will depend on student interest and staff sponsorship. More information will be shared as the school opening approaches.
How can students get involved in shaping the school?

Will EDSS have any programs that differ from REMSS?
- Yes, EDSS will be a comprehensive high school, offering a wide array of courses. While EDSS will not have an IB program, it will offer an Advanced Placement Program (AP) which will enable students to take a university level course in one year, and, similar to IB, if students score well on the AP exam, they will get university credit for the course. For grade 11 students in our first year, we will offer AP English Language, AP Physics 1, Life Science 11 Honours (2-year program for AP Biology 12), and Chemistry 11 Honours (2-year program for AP Chemistry 12). As students move into grade 12, there will be many more Advanced Placement options available. Additionally, we will be offering musical theatre as an option for students who are interested. For more information, please refer to our EDSS Course Planning Guide - Grade 9-12

Who was Emery Dosdall?
- Emery Dosdall was a former Langley School District superintendent and deputy minister of education in the province of BC. Dosdall, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 77, served as superintendent in the Langley School District for 13 years, a time spanning most of the 1980s and early 1990s. He was admired for being a great communicator, collaborator, and as a forward thinker whose progressive approach to education led to the decentralization of school budgeting, which gave schools the autonomy to manage their budgets. His student-centric ideas resulted in the development of alternative and choice programs in Langley.
