KIND Competition

The Wilson School of Design at KPU has launched the KIND Competition. KIND encourages students to see design as a powerful tool for creating positive change. Participants are invited to explore how design can be kind to people and the environment by developing creative, thoughtful, and responsible solutions to real-world challenges. The competition is also a great opportunity for students to experience design thinking firsthand and learn more about design as a potential field of study and future career. For more, click here.

Vimy Inspires Tomorrow

Vimy Inspires Tomorrow is a history-based leadership program for youth aged 13-17. It is designed to sharpen the leadership skills that they can use to develop a transformative community project. Youth who complete the program are eligible for a project grant of $2,500 to assist them in bringing a community project to life. Learn more by clicking here.

Empowered Black Girls Mentorship Program

The program, which runs from October 2026 until April 2027 and is open to black students Grade 7-12, connects young Black girls with professional Black women mentors through a combination of in-person and virtual sessions. Our goal is to provide consistent, identity-affirming mentorship and a supportive space where girls can build confidence, explore their goals, develop leadership skills, and connect with women who can encourage and guide them. Build Her Future

A career discovery event for girls in Grades 10-12 scheduled for Oct. 29 at BCIT in Burnaby. The event, hosted by the Canadian Contruction Women, will give attendees the chance to meet inspiring women in architecture, engineering, project management, business ownership and more. B.C. STEM Opportunities

Are you a student interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and looking for opportunities and scholarships to enhance your learning in these areas?  Then be sure to check out the new BC STEM Opportunities website. This is a website created by Langley students which is your one stop shop for all activities and opportunities that are STEM related - from upcoming STEM contests or events, to STEM related grants and scholarship opportunities. The website is updated on an ongoing basis so be sure to check back regularly for new opportunities. You can access the website here.

2026 UBC Gairdner Symposium

The Gairdner High School Symposium is a half-day event held each fall that gives secondary students and teachers the opportunity to interact with Gairdner award-winning scientists and BC Children's Hospital researchers.

This event is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026. Grade 10-12 students can participate in-person or virtually in real-time. 

The registration form will be posted for 14 days from Monday, September 14, 2026 at 9:30 am to Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm. 2026 Make it Safe Youth Campaign

A free student competition and career-exploration event for B.C. post-secondary and high school students. Hosted as part of the Make It Safe Vancouver health and safety conference, the event introduces students to the health and safety sectors through a blend of competition, showcase, industry learning, and networking. Explore

This program is open to students aged 13-18. Students spend 3-4 weeks in a Francophone location in Canada over the summer. While there, they meet students from all over Canada and study French together. This is an immersive program, so students report significant improvement in their French by the end of their trip. It is a free government-run program, so families are responsible for paying for flights only. Learn more about the program and how to apply here.

YMCA Summer Work Exchange

This is a six-week program for students aged 16-17. Students travel to a Francophone location in Canada and spend the six weeks working full time and staying with a host family. The work is paid, so this is an opportunity for students to develop their French, travel, and learn new skills while still making money at a summer job. Jobs are in a variety of areas like leading day camps, working at museums or non-profits, or running sports programs. This is an exchange, so another student comes to stay in the B.C. student’s home. There is $200 registration fee once accepted, but flights and other program costs are covered. Families are also responsible for feeding and caring for the exchange student while they are in B.C. B.C./Québec Exchange Program

This is a program that takes place in a French immersion student’s grade 10 or 11 year. Students from B.C. are paired with a student from Québec who comes to stay with them in the fall. The B.C. student then goes to Québec for two months in the spring. While in Québec, students stay with their host family and attend Québécois school. This program is free, but families are responsible for feeding and caring for the exchange student while they are in B.C. Teachers must organize and support the exchange, so interested students should contact the immersion teachers at their school to start the process. Learn more here.

House of Commons Page Program

This is available to students in their first year of university who are studying in or near Ottawa. During their first year of university, pages work about 15 hours a week in the House of Commons (paid work). The hours are flexible to accommodate the pages’ class schedule. Pages help M.P.s, support educational programs, contribute to ceremonial activities, and more. Applicants must be bilingual (finished French immersion 12). Learn more here.
