Numeracy
Elementary Math/Numeracy Overview
At the link below, teachers will find an Elementary Math/Numeracy Overview for use in the Langley School District. This overview was created by Langley's District Instructional Services teachers and provides an overview of the key elements of a Comprehensive Numeracy Program that should exist in all elementary classrooms across the District. The overview also provides information about the two recommended Comprehensive Numeracy programs that the District supports (Math UP and the Coast Metro Numeracy website). It also provides a comprehensive overview of other suggested resources teachers can be accessing for the different elements of your math/numeracy program. The light coloured resources are free to access by clicking on the link in the document. The darker coloured resources have a cost associated to them but schools should have some of these resources available in their schools. Please check with your school Admin or Teacher Librarian to learn which of the suggested resources your school has available.
Elementary Math Resource Overview
The website focuses on Number and Number Operations and outlines key concepts for each grade. Within each concept, there are learning stories, foundations, progressions, a sample week at a glance, as well as assessment and resource suggestions. The website also includes math games, Indigenous connections, assessment tools, instructional routines and children's literature. To access the Coast Metro Numeracy website, click on the link below:
