September 2026 Kindergarten Gradual Entry Schedule

Hello, Families of New Shortreed Kindergarten Students!

We are so excited to welcome your family to Shortreed! We hope you are feeling good about your child beginning their Kindergarten journey with us next week. We know this is a big transition for both children and families, and we want to make the start of school as smooth, welcoming, and positive as possible.

We want to ensure we are as prepared to welcome your child and get to know them as they become a Shortreed Eagle. There are two important things we are asking families to complete:

1. Book a Kindergarten Family Meeting 
Please sign up for a short meeting at the school with your child and one of our Kindergarten teachers next week. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for us to meet your child, learn a little more about them, and help them begin to feel comfortable at Shortreed. 2. Complete the Kindergarten Family Questionnaire 
If you have not yet completed the questionnaire that was sent out last Spring, or if you did not receive the link, please complete it using find the link below:

A Few Important Reminders About Gradual Entry

We know there can be a lot of information to keep track of at this time of year, so we want to clarify a few details about the gradual entry process:

• Gradual entry groups are organized by your child's last name.Please refer to the schedule that will be shared withyou,so you know when your child is expected to attend.
• Please do not bring your child to school for gradual entry until their scheduled day.
• The teacher you meet with next week,and even the teacher your child may have during gradual entry,is not necessarily your child's classroom teacher for the school year.We will confirm your child's permanent Kindergarten classroom and teacher with you once placementsarefinalized.
• Thursday, September 10:Families will be notified of theKindergartengradual entry grouptheir child has been placed in and the classroom they will attend during gradual entry.
• Once gradual entry is complete,all Kindergarten students will follow the regular Shortreed bell schedule.
