Final Newsletter for 2024-2025

As our office closes for the summer, I would like to share some updates for the end of the year and provide information for the start of next year.
We have updated our websites in Langley Schools, and therefore, we are unable to access previous newsletters. I apologize for any missed information; we will look at a new template and update this as we move forward. Photos will also be updated.
In the final week of school, we shared some important and fun moments with the students and families.
Good Things to Talk About
On Monday, we honoured our 2025 Grade 5 Class as they finish out their time at Shortreed. For many of these students, I have worked with them since they were in kindergarten, so I have come to know them and their families well. Most of our school, along with grade 5 families, gathered in the gym for our Grade 5 Farewell. Representatives from each grade 5 shared some appreciation for the school, their parents and caregivers, and staff. Following some words from Mrs. Tarasoff and me, each student was honoured by crossing the stage, sharing a bit about who they are, and receiving a completion certificate. After the grade 5 slideshow, we concluded the formal part of the ceremony. Then, the grade 5 students had the opportunity to enjoy cupcakes (thanks, Melissa!), punch, photos, and Class of 2025 swag. Thank you to PAC and all the volunteers for providing the refreshments and decorations, as well as for helping with setup.
On Wednesday, our staff was feeling ready for summer and decided to head out to the sidewalk for a beach-themed dance party! Thank you to everyone who sang and danced with us... or walked by with big high 5s!
On Thursday, we had our Year-End Assembly. We thanked some volunteers, honoured our PAC, said farewell to staff who are leaving, and shared a slideshow of images from Term 2. We then invited our grade 5s up one last time, cheering them as they exited the gym. Following this, our next group of grade 5 students had the opportunity to move to the benches and take on the student leadership commitment in the school.
