Principal’s Message

Dear North Otter Community,

As we begin the 2026-27 school year at North Otter Elementary, we do so with great excitement and a clear vision for the future. Together with staff, students, and families, we are building on the strong foundation of community support that makes North Otter such a special place.

Our vision is centred on three pillars: personal growth, community culture, and academic excellence.

For our students, we want North Otter to be known as a place where kindness, respect, empathy, and leadership thrive. In the primary years, children learn the culture of our school and how to treat one another well. In the intermediate years, our students become the “elders” of the school; the leaders and mentors who help shape our community, tell its story, and guide younger students as they find their place both personally and socially.

We want all our families, students, and staff to feel like they belong at our school. Through caring relationships and opportunities in the classroom and throughout the school, our students will feel a sense of belonging and begin to see their gifts emerge during their time as an Otter.

Academically, we are setting high expectations in literacy and math. We are committed to ensuring every student becomes a confident reader by the end of Grade 2, a capable writer by the time they leave Grade 3, and a strong communicator through their intermediate years. In math, we are equally focused on strong foundations, explicit teaching, and closing learning gaps on computation fluency so every student can approach complex problems with confidence.

At North Otter, we are proud to set the bar high. With the strong support of our community, we know that together we will continue to create a school where relationships are strong, learning is deep, and leadership is nurtured at every level.

Sincerely,
Mr. Wejr
