Happy Holidays from the Langley Board of Education
With winter break approaching, the Langley Board of Education would like to wish all students, staff, and families a safe, fun, and restful break. I also want to take a moment to reflect upon the last few months and all that we have accomplished.
As a Board, we continue to work towards meeting the goals of the Strategic Plan and supporting a system so that all students can have the opportunity to reach their full potential. In our schools, students continue to learn, improve, and work towards achieving their goals.
Staff continue to strive to help create positive, peaceful, safe, and inclusive environments where learners feel a sense of belonging in the community. Parents/guardians are working collaboratively with their children and staff to foster success.
Outside of the classroom, there has also been much to celebrate, with capital projects recently completed and more underway. In September, we celebrated the opening of Josette Dandurand Elementary, as well as two new modular additions – an eight-classroom expansion at Nicomekl Elementary, and a six-classroom space at Lynn Fripps Elementary. Last month, a groundbreaking event was held to celebrate the start of construction of the new Smith area middle and secondary schools in the Willoughby Slope.
We are always focused on our students, and we know that these capital projects will help meet the needs of a growing community and enhance the learning opportunities for all. The Board will continue to advocate for more education spaces as we welcome more students and families to our schools.
At this time of year, we express our gratitude to everyone who contributes positively to our District, from parents/guardians to community partners, we appreciate your ongoing generosity and collaboration.
On behalf of the Langley Board of Education, we wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year!
