Wishing all Langley Families a Great Summer!

The 2016/17 school year certainly provided many highlights for students, staff, and families. The imlementation of the re-designed curriculum continues to progress along with changes to communicate student learning. In addition, our Framework for Enhancing Student Learning plan that is located on our District website highlights numerous initiatives that allign with our vision to be “an innovative, inspiring, and unified learning community.” Please take time to check out this section of our website under the heading of “Our District”. I look forward to sharing additional examples of student and staff work within this framework during 2017/18.

While many families try to take some time to enjoy vacation over the summer we also have over 4000 students that take advantage of our summer learning program. Students in grades 1 to 12 have access to several programs that can enhance numeracy and literacy skills along with enjoying outdoor, fine arts, and applied skills experiences. The partnership with the Township and City to provide recreational programming for students in the afternoon is also a great example of Community coming together to serve students.

As we enter the summer break it is also a time to say goodbye to retirees and staff that are pursing educational opportunities elsewhere. On behalf of the District I wish all of our former employees well as they transition on to these next stages in their lives. I greatly appreciate all of the work they have undertaken on behalf of our students.

Have a great summer!
