Langley Students Shine at Langley International Film Festival
The Langley International Film Festival was held March 3 – 5 at Chief Sepass Theatre. While providing a range of films for audience members to enjoy it also enabled Langley students to showcase their own productions. Students from Brookswood, R E Mountain, and Langley Fine Arts along with two students from Capilano University presented a wide range of films during the two hour timeframe. The twenty one films ranged in length from 2 to 8 minutes and were all of excellent quality and dealt with a variety of themes. My congratulations to all of the school staff and students that put in many hours to produce these films but also had the courage to have their works shared with the public. This event certainly aligns with the District’s Core Values of Community, Excellence, and Courage. As a District we will continue to provide students with the tools they need to pursue this area of passion and work towards establishing a culture where students will have the courage and support to take risks to bring their productions to life. I would also like to thank Susan Cairns for her vision to organize this event that not only provides a platform for our students to share their work but also generates funds to support arts and film programs in Langley schools. Well done!
