The Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA) came into effect on December 1, 2019 with requirements for School Districts to have a policy in place by December 1, 2023.
The purpose of PIDA is to establish whistleblower protection for public sector employees.
Policy 20: Public Interest Disclosure was created to meet the PIDA requirements. Administrative Procedure 403: Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower) and the related Appendix A: Public Interest Disclosure (Whistle Blower Protection) Disclosure Form provide more information.
An annual report from the Superintendent of Schools required annually per Administrative Procedure 403: Public Interest Disclosure.
