Have a great summer!

The 2017/18 school year once again generated numerous examples of an inspiring and innovative school community despite challenges associated with teacher shortages and increasing enrolment pressures. A number of the District highlights from this year are featured on our District website under Langley Learns (Framework for Enhancing Student Learning). The framework serves as an archive with respect to District educational initiatives to improve student learning. A few of the features include: the District technology plan, outdoor education, the IDEA Summit, Children in Care, CyberSeniors, Cinder-Awesome, and work with respect to numeracy and literacy. Please access this link to explore all four quadrants of the framework: Framework for Enhancing Student Learning

In addition, summer session is once again underway with over 4000 students enrolled in courses to enhance their skills and explore educational opportunities from grades one to twelve. I greatly appreciate the efforts of staff to provide so many outstanding educational choices and programs for our students during the summer. Summer session also enables the school district to partner with the City and Township to provide afternoon recreational programs for students in our elementary schools which Langley families also appreciate.

I know our Maintenance staff will also be very busy this summer installing portables and updating facilities as we prepare for September 2018. In addition, work remains on schedule for the Langley secondary school and R E Mountain secondary school building projects.

I would like to thank all of our staff, parents, and students for once again making the Langley school district such an amazing place to learn. I wish everyone a relaxing summer and look forward to the 2018/19 school year.
