A Memorable End to September
The District acknowledgement of Orange Shirt day was once again a great success. I had the pleasure of attending both Yorkson Creek Middle school and Glenwood elementary school for their Orange Shirt day assemblies. Congratulations to the students and staff for their respectful ceremonies to address Truth and Reconciliation with our Aboriginal community.
Another highlight for the end of September was the grand opening ceremony of the Langley Resource Centre to serve youth. Numerous partners came together to provide awareness of youth homelessness and funding to establish this centre. Langley students were acknowledged at the ceremony for demonstrating incredible leadership to bring the community together to support this venture. Way to go Langley students!
I must also express my appreciation to three of our departing Trustees for their service to support Langley students. Rosemary Wallace, Rob McFarlane, and Alison McVeigh will not be seeking re-election. They can be proud of their work to make Langley School District “an innovative, inspiring, and unified learning community.” Listen to their departing comments in Board News: Last Board Meeting for Three Trustees.
