Special Services District Teachers: Integration Support
The District Teachers – Integration Support provide school teams with support for students with special needs. They are available to assist with:
- the development of Individual Education Plans
- adapting and modifying instruction and materials
- programming and placement
At the request of schools, they meet with parents and teaching staff on an ongoing basis and engage in child-specific consultations, including observations in the school setting. District teachers assist with the transition process – preschool to kindergarten, elementary to middle, and middle to secondary.
In addition, the district teachers are responsible for planning and presenting inservice and professional development activities for classroom teachers, specialist teachers, resource/learning assistance teachers and support staff. The district teacher for Autism Spectrum Disorders works with school and home programs to facilitate collaboration and cooperative partnerships.
