The Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence honours exceptional elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines. Award winner Tim Stephenson of WGSS was congratulated by the Board of Education at their public meeting on Tuesday, May 29. Tim travelled to Ottawa to receive his award from Prime Minister Trudeau in February but kept it under wraps until the Board was able to more formally congratulate him. Tim teaches Science 9, Astronomy 11 and Chemistry 12 at WGSS and encourages his students to engage in science 24 hours a day. His general approach is to bring science to life for all his students demonstrating things like solar panels (which power his classroom), lithium batteries and telescopes. To read more of Tim’s accomplishments, visit his profile page on the Government of Canada website. Certainly the Langley School District and students of WGSS are fortunate to have Tim teaching in this community – congratulations!
