Rogers Hometown Hockey Visits HD Stafford

January 14, 2019

If were driving through the City of Langley on Sunday, you may have noticed something big happening down town. Rogers Hometown Hockey visited Langley as a part of their nation-wide tour. As a part of that tour, they paid HD Stafford Middle a monumental visit on Friday, January 11. It was such a big deal, that all the grade five classes from HD Stafford’s feeder schools — Blacklock Fine Arts, Douglas Park Community, James Hill, Nicomekl, Simonds, and Uplands Elementary — walked and bussed out to join.

The event was hosted by Hometown Hockey MC, Kyle, who did a live interview with with local Vancouver Giants star, Bowen Byram (#44). They talked about his hockey experience and how he balances his education with the sport.

The kids were also given a wildly entertaining show by all-star circus performer (with a hockey twist) Paz (#23). The comedian acrobat showcased many different juggling tricks themed on national NHL teams. He ended his show with a thrilling juggling of hockey sticks while standing on top of a goalie net, with the help of HD Stafford’s own Mr. Van Meer.

It ended with a dance off between three hockey mascots: Jack from the Giants, Hometown Hank the beaver, and Stafford’s own Skyhawk.

The kids loved the event. And for many of them, it was their first time visiting Stafford, which will be their school come September.
