Fort Langley student wins anti-bullying prize for school

December 15, 2017

Fort Langley Elementary held its six week regular assembly on December 11. However, this time, they had a special celebration. One student was recognized for her exceptional entry in a contest run by Seon, a Safe Fleet Solution company. She was awarded $500 for the school.

Seon, who joined the United Against Bullying program, holds the anti-bullying I HEART Kindness Coloring and Poster Contests annually. This year saw over 3000 entrants from across Canada and the US.

The assembly was visited by Seon representatives Mike Bismeyer — an anti-bullying advocate, Teresa Lynne, Lori Jetha, Yumi Ang, and their mascot Buddy the Bear. The cheque for $500 was presented to the winning student by both Mike and Buddy.

Afterwards, Mike, as well as students from the assembly shared stories of bullying. They discussed how it affects themselves and others.

For principal Clint Jackson, the day represented the school’s two core values “being respectful and reaching our potential”.
