A Message from the Langley Board of Education

June 26, 2024

As the school year ends, the Langley Board of Education would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to all our students, staff, and families. Thank you so much for your hard work and for the support and cooperation throughout the year.

As we look back on the year, we are so proud of what we have been able to accomplish together. In our schools, we have continued to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, while also continuing our journey towards Truth and Reconciliation. We have worked collaboratively at the District and school level to celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community, promote anti-racism, and other initiatives to ensure students, staff, and families feel like they belong.

With the help of the Ministry of Education and Child Care, the Board has made several important strides with regards to creating more learning spaces for our students. In recent months, ground has been broken on a new elementary school on the Willoughby slope, a modular expansion at Richard Bulpitt Elementary is in progress, and a second prefab construction building is on the way at Nicomekl Elementary School. These projects in the works are aimed at helping to take steps to relieve enrolment pressures in our schools. As we evolve and grow as a District, the Board will continue to advocate the Ministry for more schools and look forward to being the recipients of new capital projects in the future.

With summer break approaching, we hope you all enjoy some well-deserved time off with your families, and we look forward to seeing you again in September.

Have a wonderful summer!

Candy Ashdown, Chair
