Langley School District returning thermostat settings to normal levels

December 20, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Re: Langley School District Reducing Natural Gas Usage as Province Experiences Shortage

In October of this year, a large natural gas pipeline explosion near Prince George greatly reduced the availability of natural gas in British Columbia. As such, FortisBC asked that British Columbians conserve natural gas as the supply lines were being repaired.

The Langley School District participated in the conservation efforts by lowering thermostat levels to reduce natural gas consumption in all its facilities. As Fortis BC has since announced that the natural gas supply has now reached an acceptable level, temperatures in Langley schools will be returned to normal seasonal operating levels.

District Leadership would like to commend and thank the students and staff of the District for participating in conservation efforts that have greatly impacted the province.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school administration or email feedback@sd35.bc.ca.

Sincerely,

Gord Stewart
Superintendent of Schools
