Outdoor Education Choice Program for Grades K-2 in September 2017
Parent Information Evenings 7:00pm-8:00pm:
- Wednesday, February 8 at Aldergrove Community Secondary
- Thursday, February 16 at Langley Fine Arts School
- Monday, February 20 at Brookswood Secondary
Attendance at one of these meetings is mandatory for all parents interested in registering for this Program of Choice.
The Langley School District is very proud and excited to offer a district Program of Choice in September 2017 to our students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 embracing teaching and learning in an outdoor environment. It is anticipated that future years in the program will grow to include higher grades.
This program is being developed by Langley teachers and staff and will incorporate all the new curriculum as required by the BC Ministry of Education. This Program of Choice will be located at one of our schools but students will spend a significant amount of time outdoors in local parks and other outdoor facilities.
Please register at your catchment school as normal for September 2017. Registration for this program is a separate process occurring in February.
Please note this is a district program and open to all families in the Langley School District.
Acceptance to the program for September 2017 will be by lottery so it will not matter which of the meetings a parent attends or how early registration is received. Parents registering must be able to transport their children to the program regardless of its eventual location. No district transportation will be provided.
These schools have been identified as potential home schools for Outdoor Education:
- Parkside Centennial Elementary School
- Nicomekl Community Secondary School
- Fort Langley Elementary School
School site(s) will be determined after registration. Deadline to receive applications is February 28, 2017.
Registration will take place at the end of each Parent Information Evening. Forms will not be available in advance.
