PRINCIPAL APPOINTED FOR LYNN FRIPPS
Langley School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathleen Boles as Principal of Lynn Fripps Elementary School. Ms Boles is currently Principal of Gordon Greenwood Elementary School in Walnut Grove. Said an announcement from Superintendent of Schools Cheryle Beaumont: "Kathleen will start to formally undertake her planning responsibilities on January 3, 2012 and will maintain an office at Willoughby Elementary School from January onwards. She is well-known in the Willoughby area as she served as Vice-Principal and then Principal at Willoughby Elementary from 1999 to 2007 before becoming Principal at Gordon Greenwood.
Langley's newest elementary school, Lynn Fripps, located at 21020 83rd Avenue in the Willoughby area, is scheduled to open in September 2012. The school will have 21 classrooms and accommodate 510 students. It will also house a Neighbourhood Learning Centre. A letter to parents was sent November 2, 2011 providing more information about the school and plans for its opening.
Upcoming:
- A public meeting will be held November 22 to update parents in the Willoughby area.
- A consultation on uses of the Neighbourhood Learning Centre component of the school is also scheduled to get underway in November (Lynn Fripps was allocated space to allow for neighbourhood learning uses).
- In January 2012 an office for Lynn Fripps will be opened at Willoughby Elementary School
Lynn Fripps
A dedicated mother and community volunteer, Lynn Fripps is remembered for her contributions as President of Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 Ms. Fripps directed her energy into supporting others dealing with the same challenge. Find out more about Lynn Fripps.
