SCHOOL PROFILE

Langley Meadows has a population of 545 K-7 students and a staff of 56.  The community is changing rapidly as development occurs throughout the Willoughby slope region. New families are arriving daily.  We include 32 ESL students, 68 First Nations students, and 18 students with designated Ministry special needs.  Our school has recently seen increasing numbers of higher need students and families (ESL, low income/socioeconomic status, behaviour, new Canadians.)  We have a relatively high proportion of potentially “at-risk” students in our school population.

At Meadows we offer a wide range of programming to address the needs of our community.  Our school has clear vision, mission, and value statements.  These have been developed collaboratively with staff, parents, and students; these are tenets we live by and base decisions on.  Beyond our own school goals and programs, there is also a Wind and Tide pre-school program in the building and a StrongStart Center. We have a before and after school daycare program in the building.  As a designated Community School, we offer programs for families, young people, and organizations in the Langley Meadows area. These offerings are numerous, popular, and well attended.

We believe we have a strong school; increasingly parents choose to come to us based on our reputation, FSA results, reading, writing, math, technology, and P.E. accomplishments.  We are recognized as a well rounded and successful school as is validated by our satisfaction surveys, and general feedback.
