Message from the Principal

At James Hill we value a safe, supportive, caring and disciplined learning environment where all students are expected to achieve to the best of their ability. The staff work extremely hard to maintain high standards and the students understand that achievement is directly related to energy and effort invested.
We are a school that takes pride in our programs. We have a strong athletic program, technology program, and we are involved in a number of other initiatives throughout the year. We encourage parent involvement and support, and have a number of dedicated parents who help out around the school. We will be focussing on a writing goal over the next few years, and we are very excited with the strategies we have developed around these areas to support the writing process.
The staff at James Hill welcome input and we are only too happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you would like more information or would like to talk to me personally, I can be reached at 604-530-0251 or email at
metheridge@sd35.bc.ca.

Message from the Vice Principal

This is my first year at James Hill and I am delighted to be a part of this community. I have worked in the Langley School District since 1989, teaching grades 3 - 7, working as an intermediate coordinator at the School Board Office, then serving in administration at Langley Fundamental and Alice Brown Elementary. My area of particular interest is literacy, particularly literacy in the content areas, and I am very much looking forward to working with the staff and students on the school's writing goal and with the Reading Power strategies many teachers use. The HEART theme which is so enthusiastically embraced by the community is evident in the respectful interactions among all who learn, work and play here, and I will be looking for ways to continue to build that up. Please come and introduce yourself to me or let me know any way I can be of help. You will find me in the grade four classroom, in the office Wednesday and Friday mornings, on the playground at recess and lunch, and at the crosswalk before school most days.
