REGISTRATION INFO

This page lists information and resources that will be useful to parents whose children are returning to school after summer break, or who are new to Langley School District and want to familiarize themselves with schools, programs and services in the district.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF STUDENTS

  • Graduate Profile - A set of attributes the district strives to achieve in all its graduates.  
  • Student Code of Conduct - general school rules and disciplinepractices which reflect the school and District’s expectations for students.
  • Safe Schools - Langley students have a right to a safe, stimulating learning environment. This district has several programs and services parents and students can access if they are concerned about issues such as harassment, bullying or violence in or around schools.
  • Resolving Problems - Parents are “natural advocates” for their children, and Langley School District recognizes the importance of helping parents when issues affecting students need to be addressed.

THE VITAL ROLE OF PARENTS

  • Parent Involvement Handbook - Provides information encouraging parents to be involved in their child's education and school community. Also check out the information in the Parent section of the district web site.
  • Parents as Partners - For 20 years the Parents as Partners committee has been bringing speakers and workshops to the district who will parents 'in supporting their child's education'.

COMMUNITY & COMMUNITY RESOURCES

  • Community - Langley School District provides public education to about 20,000 students in The Township of Langley and the City of Langley.
  • District Fact Sheet - An overview of the district's geography, size, programs and services (Note: 2010-2011 Information to be updated in November for 2011-2012).  
  • Langley School District Foundation - A charitable ogranization that supports programs not normally funded by the Ministry of Education. It's mission is 'Making learning unforgettable for every Langley Student'.
  • Emergency Resources for Students & Parents - Sometimes situations occur that have to be dealt with immediately. The Emergency Resources page contains contacts and procedures to get assistance. Be sure to look at the links under 'Departments' in the left menu bar.

  KEEPING IN TOUCH

  • Student Success Magazine - A publication informing parents about programs and services available in the community or district that are of interest to parents and families.
  • District Web Site - Recent News, Events and Quick Links on the front page. In depth information accessible though the comprehensive menu or Parent, Student and Staff portals.
