SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CURRENT EVENTS:
November 2008
The Social Responsibility Committee continues to work on behalf of elementary schools in Langley to bring them resources and current information on trends in Social Responsibility. With a grant we received from the Langley Foundation we have been able to support the teaching of Social Responsibility through Literature - we used the funds to buy books from Orca Publishers aimed at reluctant readers. These novels, put together to support an intermediate Literature Circle, have topical themes and engaging stories, along with lesson plans; they have also been locally approved. We also continue to have a high volume of requests for the Social Responsibility Book Boxes, designed to match and support the four strands of the Performance Standards. You may request these via phone(Cristy Watson at 604-532-8599) or email: cwatson@sd35.bc.ca
