UPCOMING ABORIGINAL EVENTS

 

24 Hour Drum

A 24-hour cultural event to support the Canadian Diabetes Association, Langley Food Bank and Basics for Babies. The event will be on April 25th to April 26th, 2014 at D.W. Poppy Secondary School - 23752-52nd Avenue, Langley. Opening ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Friday and closing ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Admission is by donation (cash or items for the Langley Food Bank or Basics for Babies). Everyone is welcome! Bring your drum! There will be vendor tables, bannock and tacos for sale, crafts and traditional games and activities. Vendor tables are $25. If you would like to book a table, please send an email.  Aboriginal Family Gathering - Healthy Balance

Please join us on Friday, February 28th from 5-8 p.m. for our Healthy Balance Family Gathering at H.D. Stafford Middle School. The school is located at 203rd and Grade Crescent in Langley. Aboriginal Family Gathering Christmas Celebration

Please join us at H.D. Stafford Middle School for our annual Aboriginal Christmas Family Gathering from 5-8 p.m. There will be entertainment, an Elf Shop (children may make a gift), children's activities and vendor tables. National Aboriginal Day/Enhancement Agreement Signing

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Please join us for this special National Aboriginal Day Picnic at Aldergrove Lake Park where we will be signing our new Enhancement Agreement. Please join us for dinner and enjoy the entertainment as well as witnessing the signing. Entertainment will be from 4-6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. by Sto:lo Caterers and then we will have the EA signing ceremony from 6-8:30. Hot dogs and hamburgers are provided. Finger desserts are welcome. Please bring chairs and/or blankets. Swimming is available but not supervised. There will be bus transportation from Nicomekl at 3:30, Douglas Park at 3:45 and Shortreed at 4:00. For more information, please call Vicki at 604-866-2138.

Eagle Kindergarten Information Meeting 

Monday February 15th, 2010

Please join us for an information evening at Nicomekl Elementary regarding the new all-day Aboriginal Eagle Program that will be starting in September 2010. Join us for bannock and tea. Aboriginal Family Gathering

Please join us for our annual Christmas Family Gathering. This year the event will take place at Langley Secondary School from 5-8 p.m. A wonderful turkey dinner is provided. Dessert donations will be accepted. There will be no Santa Store this year, but the jolly fellow in red will be putting in a special appearance. National Aboriginal Day - Aldergrove Lake
Thursday, June 18th, 2009 -  Please join the fun celebrating National Aboriginal Day at Aldergrove Lake Park. Enjoy a free dinner and please feel free to bring along a dessert. The gathering will go from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be games and entertainment. There is swimming at the Lake, but no lifeguard will be on duty. Children must have adult supervision. Youth Leadership Conference
Wednesday, Nov 5-7th, 2008 - The annual Youth Leadership Conference will be held at Newlands Golf & Country Club from Nov 5-7th, 2008. This conference includes students from Grades 9-12 in our program, who show leadership skills.

31st Annual Sto:lo Awards
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 - The 31st Annual Sto:lo Awards will be held at the Chilliwack Ag-Rec Centre. These awards honor the accomplishments of Aboriginal students in many different school districts and communities, who are in Grades 8-12. Registration is at 4:30 p.m., with dinner following from 5-6:30 p.m. and the awards will be presented at 7 p.m. The theme this year is The Spirit of the Youth. Oral Traditions - Hear Our Voices
Saturday, May 17th and Sunday May 18th, 2008 - Poetry, Songs, Drumming, Dance, Skits, Family History. Stories: Personal journey or handed down from Grandparents. Performances will be on May 17th from 7-9 p.m. and May 18th from 2-4 p.m. at the Chief Sepass Theatre in Fort Langley, B.C. This event is sponsored by Kwantlen First Nation, Langley School District #35 and the Langley School District #35 Aboriginal Program. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Enhancement Agreement Meeting
Thursday, April 24th, 2008 - Enhancement Agreement Meeting for families who live in the Aldergrove area. This meeting will take place at the Langley Banquet Centre (corner of 264th & Fraser Hwy) from 5-8 p.m. Invitations were sent out to all families of students in the Aldergrove catchment area. Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., followed by a discussion around putting together the next Enhancement Agreement.
